What We Do

The Band

From Sydney, a versatile 4 piece band performing a range of Australian traditional and original songs and music.

The Coves

The term Cove has several meanings; a man, a manager of a sheep station, a convict overseer and as in the place name, a sheltered shoreline. The band likes the name and hope you appreciate it too.

Music and Songs

Sydney Coves can sound very traditional -pretty much an acoustic sound.
They also have great harmony based vocals, sort of folk sound.
Their vocal arrangements are among the best around and this is perhaps what sets them apart from other traditional type bands. Of course, they can beef it up to a rollicking foot tapping sound with rousing dance music and songs from the bush and the sea.

The wonderful variation is what makes the Sydney Coves the perfect act for any function or venue.

The Sydney Coves incorporates the fiddle, banjo, bones, bodhran, harmonica, largerphone, acoustic and electric guitar, and double bass.
Need a particular traditional instrument sound ? If it’s not mentioned here, the band can more than likely arrange it.

Just Sit and Listen?

The Sydney Coves is a great band just to listen to. Their Repertoire of songs and music extends from the traditions of the 1800’s to John Williamson. Throw in the songs of Ireland and you have a huge variety to select from. They might even throw in an Aussie yarn or two in the form of a funny poem or recitation, usually something from Banjo Paterson or Henry Lawson.

Special Events

Sydney Coves is the perfect act for Promotional Events, especially when you want to impress your international business colleagues with a very Australian event.
For Japanese groups they even have the words to popular Aussie songs translated for singalongs. Sydney Coves is an experienced and professional act and although based around the traditional Australian theme, has a style all of their own which can fit in anywhere and has continued to impress audiences across a wide spectrum. The Sydney Coves is perfect for: Fundraisings, promotional events, birthdays, weddings, Christmas parties, farewells, business conventions, private parties, openings, and concerts.

Dance tunes are drawn from the Irish, English and Scottish tunes of the early settlers of Australia, together with tunes of Australia and other immigrant influences.
The drive of the fiddle and the rhythm of the lagerphone; you can’t keep your feet still once the Sydney Coves start to play.
